thoughts, memories and comments from
one of our treasured Y6 bilingual
(able to speak two languages)
students leaving Bayswater School at
the end of the term.
Akira's
Story
Japan
Earliest Memory:
I've almost forgotten about being a
junior at Bayswater School but I do
remember that I tied up my teacher's
shoelaces while the class was
sitting on the mat. She was really
annoyed with me.
Favourite Memory:
I love playing with my friends at
the playtime. We are lucky to have a
lot of trees and a big field to run
around in. Also the Year 5/6 Camp
was so much fun. There were lots of
activities, great food and we played
lots of games. It was a real
adventure for me.
Challenge in Being Bilingual:
When you need to spell or sound out
words or you know the word but you
don't know how to describe it.
Benefits in Being Bilingual:
Having Japanese as my first language
feels special because I can speak it
with my family. In the future I'll
be able to have two languages that I
am confident in and good at
speaking.
Achievements at Bayswater:
I have improved a great deal in my
writing. I find writing in English
and Japanese difficult so I am proud
that I have done well this year.
Hopes for the Future:
I hope to get better in English. I'm
not sure if I'll study at university
as I'm still working on my career
plan.
