Bayswater Return to School 2022

Kei aku nui, kei aku rahi, tēnā koutou katoa i roto i ngā āhuatanga o te wā.

Welcome back after what we hope has been a wonderful summer for your whānau.

We are ready to go for the 2022 year and are looking forward to welcoming everyone back onsite.

Thursday 3 February Interview Day

Interviews will be held outside each classroom.

Allocated admin slots are before each interview -

Rooms 2 and 3 - outside Room 1.

Rooms 4 and 6 - outside the library.

Rooms 9a and 9b - outside Room 9b by the picnic tables.

Friday 4 February Full school day 8.55am - 3pm

All children will need to bring their own water bottle as the fountains will be closed.

In regard to COVID-19 we have moved fully into the new traffic light framework for all our school activities and events this year. Many of you will be familiar with all the health measures we will have in place and it is good to know that at Red setting, we are able to support everyone learning onsite. Attached is some more general information in regards to the Red light setting and assistance available.

Start and finish of the day

Once again we are fortunate that the size of our lovely school means we can all start and finish school at the same time!

Start:

Children are to be dropped off at the school gates from 8.40am. Rooms 9a and 9b will be met at the Roberts Ave gates by the Kohanga Reo. All other children may enter through any other gate and must head straight to their classroom keeping to the outside spaces.

Finish:

All classes will finish at 3pm. Older siblings will be released a few minutes earlier to collect younger siblings in Rooms 9a and 9b.

On the first day caregivers of new children are welcome to come into school to settle their children. Masks must be worn. Please discuss with the class teacher if you feel your child needs further support in settling into school.

Welcomes will be done in bubbles as we are unable to have a full school pōwhiri at this stage.

Bubbles/Grouping

Ministry advice is that “there is no physical distancing requirement between group members, only between groups”. Our bubbles will be:

Whānau Puna Rooms 9a and 9b (Years 1 and 2)

Whānau Wai Rooms 4 and 6 (Years 3 and 4)

Whānau Kokoru Rooms 2 and 3 (Years 5 and 6)

Ventilation

We are lucky at Bayswater School to have small classes and large, well ventilated modern environments. All windows and doors will be kept open as much as possible. Children will be given regular opportunities for time outside both for learning and for play.

Face coverings

Staff and children at Bayswater School in Years 3 – 6 are expected to wear face coverings when inside at school when we are at Red level.  Year 3 children have been included as they will be in the same bubble as the Year 4 children and staff.

Managing cases in our school

Please make sure your contact details we have on file are up to date, so we can get in touch with you if needed. These can be updated on Interview Day.

While this might feel a little overwhelming at times, we know that all these measures will help our children return to school, reconnect with whānau and friends and do what they enjoy.

We are also here to help. Please get in touch if you have any concerns or need help in any way marianne@bayswaterschool.nz or claire@bayswaterschool.nz
