Bayswater School

Haere Mai and Welcome to Bayswater School!

I am proud to be Principal of Bayswater School. I believe Bayswater School maintains its unique style amongst all the other schools on the Peninsula and in a city environment. We value our uniqueness - our acknowledgement of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Maori, our cultural diversity, our tamaiki with high needs, our passion for the environment and our openness to engage in new pedagogy and not being afraid to be the first to break ground. We encourage our tamariki to be open and challenging, we celebrate all achievements, we are truly collaborative and we are caring.

A couple of my passions are maths and sport, I love a good word or number puzzle and there’s not much more exciting than a live game! Although born an Aucklander I spent five years in Samoa and most of my life in Wellington - I’m still a Hurricanes supporter! My sports growing up were hockey, netball, badminton and cricket but now I play bowls competitively. I also read lots - just about any genre!

I love the family feel of Bayswater School and acknowledge the importance of whānau in all our lives. My whānau are special to me particulrly my partner Steve and my children. I have two children Samantha, who is married with a daughter (my gorgeous granddaughter), and Michael who is due to marry in April. I get excited when I see all our Bayswater whānau in school helping out, supporting your tamariki and joining in with events. The strength and support of our Board and our Whānau Group (previously Parent Group) contributes to the positive family atmosphere at school.
